Grassroutes Caravans are large group bike rides to that I help to organize. We did the Soular Ride to the Renewable Energy Fair in Custer, WI in June, 2011, the Madtown2Motown Ride to Detroit in 2010 for the US Social Forum and the PNC2RNC Bike ride of Resistance to the Republican National Convention in St. Paul in 2008.
This year, we are riding bikes in a mobile village to the NATO/G8 protests in Chicago in May of 2012. Stay tuned for details! Check the Grassroutes Caravan web site to stay completely up-to-date.

Through a Window, a song about a woman taking direct action and climbing through a window at the Wisconsin capitol protests when the police blocked protesters’ entry. The window she passes through gets her into a whole other world and an altered state. Many of the people climbing through windows to re-occupy the capitol on March 9th were women.
We love you Calico Future! Remember the great life of Jen Futrell, Eco-warrior woman who was hit by a car while riding her bike home from work. Jen drove her truck, Black Betty, up from Louisville to Madison the Summer of ’08 to be food support for the PNC2RNC bike ride.

Check out this live performance from the GrassRoutes Caravan, bicycle village of resistance! The Summer of 2008, I rode with 40 other people from all over the country to the Republican National Convention in St. Paul just in time to do an opening ceremony with Starhawk and to participate in the protests.
